Medical records are where personal injury cases slow down.
A single PI matter can arrive with thousands of pages from a dozen providers. Before anyone can work damages, resolve liens or draft a demand, someone on staff has to read every page.
This summer we at Advocate Cloud Solutions set up a medical record extraction pipeline for O'Malley Tunstall PC, built on Claude from Anthropic and running inside their Salesforce org.
Since June it has read 126,000+ pages of records across 114 matters. Even at a quick 100 pages an hour, that's more than 1,200 hours of reading taken off the firm's staff.
What we set up for them:
→ Data, not a PDF. Most tools send back a summary document. This writes structured records straight onto the matter: 15,500+ medical encounters and nearly 4,000 medical bills so far, plus diagnoses, injuries, procedures and medications.
→ Damages and liens, ready to work. Billed charges are captured line by line and rolled up into damages on each matter. The team starts with the specials already totaled.
→ Every fact shows where it came from. Each extracted item links to its exact source page, so an attorney can check a date or a charge in one click.
→ No extra portal. Staff see the chronology and executive summary on the matter they already work in, governed by the firm's own Salesforce permissions. One click exports either to Word or PDF.
→ Records stay with the firm. Processing runs on Amazon Bedrock in a dedicated AWS environment, not a third-party SaaS. Bedrock doesn't retain the records or use them to train models.
Why Claude: medical records are messy, inconsistent and full of clinical shorthand. Claude already reads that language: abbreviations, ICD and CPT codes, provider notes. It also knows what a PI team pulls from them: treatment gaps, causation, specials, liens. We didn't have to teach it medicine or law. We taught it this firm's process.
"The platform built gives us an executive summary of just what we need and a lengthy chronology for litigation and client work. This platform allows the records to build upon itself so we are only charged for new records. Great job by Jason and team."

Thank you, Joseph Tunstall, and the whole O'Malley Tunstall PC team for allowing us to build this with you.
If your firm's staff are still reading every page by hand, let's talk.
